Do you know of any researchers who spoke at any tech conferences this year where they received backlash and what came of it?

What is the reality of the consequences of a researcher who does bypass these locks as it were?

In the title it says that it threatens this years security talks. I recognize the harm that could come to researchers and speakers but what is it about this year in particular that makes this an issue?

Just want to say a quick thanks to the EFF. Without you the world would be far more of a burning crap carton.
