Like many people my age, both of my grandfathers served in the military - one during WWII and the other during the Korean War. Their experiences always piqued my interest in war and I watch a lot of war movies and shows in order to help satiate that interest.
What are your thoughts on war films and/or television shows? In which ways do they "get it right" and in which ways do they miss the mark in depicting war? Any favorites?

Absolutely - and then we can't forget the children who are non-verbal or infants.
In the region where I work there has been a stronger push for kinship care or relative placements - this is to help encourage family reunification and heritage preservation while at the same time limiting some of the risks of foster care.

I don't have a question, but as someone who previously worked as an Investigator with CPS and who currently works with a non-profit aimed at advocating for foster youth, I am happy to see that you have seen so much success upon aging out of care.
Much luck to you in your future endeavors!

I have nothing to really ask of you but just wanted to thank you for sharing your story. The amount of inner and outer strength you have is going to take you far.
On a personal note: I had "sensory connection issues" (that's what they labeled it) when I was a child and didn't learn to walk until I was 3 - equine therapy (even though it was a relatively new discipline) and my occupational therapist were such blessings. When my feet felt sensation for the first time they said I was screaming in "pain" because I had never felt anything there before. It will be the hardest work of your life but when you take your first steps (again) it will be such an incredible moment. I, for one, cannot wait for you to post THAT story.

Former CPS worker here.
In most cases the conservatorship worker (when a youth is removed from their home and placed in state custody, they receive a conservatorship worker) will report it to the child abuse hotline and an investigation will be levied against the foster home. Additionally, the worker will alert the Child Placement Agency so they can create their own internal investigation. Simultaneously that child (and any other foster children in the home) will be removed and placed elsewhere.
