ITT: OP enrages Reddit with an honest reply.

He or she never said that they were rude or otherwise unpleasant to people who did this, just that it was annoying. We all have things we don't like about our jobs, but we do them with a smile anyway because we're getting paid for it and we're professionals.

The OP didn't get an AApplause certificate for being a bitch.

Not an FA but a fellow industry professional. In over 75,000 miles of flying in the past three years—about a third of it in first class and the rest in economy—I have literally never seen anybody tip. Ticket agents are expressly forbidden from accepting cash tips; not sure if that applies for FAs, too.

A lot of people blame the merger with US Airways and their CEO Doug Parker.

I don't agree with that, but it's a convenient scapegoat.

Also, virtually no one in baggage service actually works for AA. Pre-merger AA had it all outsourced. Pre-merger US Airways did have their own personnel. Now it's kind of a mix.
