Do you have a favorite effective argument you make to someone who is uninformed about surveillance, privacy, and freedom of information issues and who sees only contradictions between those issues? (E.g., an anonymous source leaking documents.) Thinking beyond the "safety of the source" arguments, how do you explain that an ethical commitment to both freedom of information and privacy is not a contradiction?
