odd question, but what does meth smell like when being cooked?

I was at a friends house the other day and walked into their kitchen where his roommate was concocting some strange substance. She looked at me and told me she was cooking meth, but i was stoned as fuck and couldn't tell if she was kidding, but it did smell fucking strange there.
