I think the stats are what make this mute for me.. ~1.5 billion cows slaughtered for food, ~1 billion sheep, ~1 billion pigs, and a crazy ~19 billion chicken a year.

The other thing that got to me is the average age that these animals are killed: beef cattle are slaughtered around age 2-2.5.. they could live up to 20 years if left alone. Chicken are raised quickly for ~6 weeks when they could live up to 8 years. Quick and painless mean nothing when they could've lived far longer.

But again, this is not against you, I was just curious as to why some veterinarians are not vegan. And again, not preaching perfect morality here, far from it, I once was a frequent meat eater and thought nothing about it, until I changed.

Grassfed or factory farmed, they are killed all the same. But I appreciate the honesty response, I have veterinarian friends and the discussion is pretty much the same as your response. I just see it differently.

Why are vets generally not vegan? It's a little like MDs eating their patients or using them as clothing..
