Hello, fellow shunt-haver! Mine was put in for the same reason as yours, at age 18 months in 1979. There was some worry about it not working properly in 1993, but the problem resolved itself and thankfully I've never needed a revision. I see a neurosurgeon for a checkup every five years, and get an MRI every ten years, like so - http://imgur.com/gyJN1.

Hi Al!
I've been a fan since around UHF, when I was in Grade 6.
My esteem for you as a musician skyrocketed when I once attempted to play a full-sized (96- or 120-bass) accordion. Hey, I took piano lessons as a kid, how much different could it be? Sure, if the piano had no legs and I was playing it while lying underneath it and bench-pressing it with my other hand! It made the solos all the more impressive to me like Lasagna and Syndicated Incorporated where you really let it rip. Would you ever consider doing an EP concentrating more on your skills as an accordion player?
Also, what are your thoughts on The Most Unwanted Song? ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gPuH1yeZ08 ) - I always thought of the section starting at the 13 minute mark as "Weird Al floating in a gondola down a canal in Venice all relaxed while slot machines and circus clowns are occasionally dropped on him as depth charges".

What do you think of Anakin the two-legged cat? I noticed in another comment that you mentioned phantom pains, and I wonder if you feel anything like what he's doing here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhbKXQIj0Tg&t=18s - positioning himself to scratch an itch with the back legs he's never had.
