How could something like this be truly effective in the states?

I wrote this off last night, thinking that it was just a historical Doctor Who ripoff...

However, today I decided what the hell! I'd give it a shot. I was completely wrong. Your script is absolutely amazing. I'd totally watch this, and, even though it seems fairly expensive because of the premise of some of the episodes, it should be fairly easy for you (or the studio) to do cheaply!
