Because Pripyat is harmless, but the road there is horrible and you pass through two checkpoints with sour Russian guards that make you sign release forms "in case you die". (I was on the tour last week)

Did the tour guide tell you that the rest of the plants were active untill 2000, and that the swimming-hall in Pripyat was active until 1998 for use for the cleanup and various other personnel in Chernobyl / Pripyat.

I was there last week. First thing I thought was... "Hey, Pripyat looks better than large parts of Kiev, and this place has been abandoned for 27 years!"

Did you see the room filled with gas-masks in the school? That was kinda creepy IMHO.
