Which carrier? Former AT2, squadron guy here. I was on 65, 67, 71, 73, 75, and 77. Almost every carrier on the east coast.

I could not have explained it any better than you did /u/ThoughtlessTurtle. Swimming had absolutely nothing to do with race but it felt that way. The "swimmers" weren't moved to the big pool until the end of bootcamp.

You were/are rare in boot camp. I was surprised when they split everyone up at the pool.

The Final Countdown is my favorite Navy movie. I was an aviation guy though.

No it wasn't but it's still my favorite. Wrong era I know.
