I don't mean to steal Cody's thunder or anything, but the guy's got thunder to spare. He'll come out of it all right, if I answer this for him:

There's no sinister algorithm at work. People love to say that about everything we do, but we don't have like...any algorithms. We're not even really sure what algorithms are. I'm assuming they're not related to music, because it's spelled a little different. The editors all get a daily email with a bunch of suggestions for titles, and we all vote on them. Whichever gets the most votes is the title for that article. We friggin' WISH we had a sinister algorithm for titling, because we're not very good at it. Anybody got any spare sinister algorithms?
