thanks for that last part. ive been working with a semi-acquaintance (friend of a friend) on a big web dev project and i always feel guilty asking for money, like somehow I'm the crazy one even though I'm putting a lot of thankless hours in.

it always comes out as "could you please pay me if you can? ...i dont want to ask but i dont have any money to pay my loans...ok, alright, next week is fine i guess..."

yeah thats true idk about node ive seen a lot more companies use it in production now...

but what im saying is that javascript is faster to pick up to get a job if youve never programmed...after that for sure study a lower level language and understand WTF is going on.

also id venture to say you'd need more than a vague familiarity, there a ton of full-stack opportunities in JavaScript and I think it's pretty important if you wanted those jobs to understand things like instantiation patterns, this binding, OOP stuff, closure etc. all in js
