1) How the heck are are you paying only 'dozens of dollars' in a full year? No such plan existed on the private individual market before the ACA, even for young, healthy males.

2) Even at the bronze level, preventative care is 100% free and you can get free checkups. A young healthy male shouldn't need to spend too much out of pocket unless you get hurt or get really sick. If that happens, you will be glad you bought insurance.

3) $840/year is only about $70/month. That's a fantastic deal.
