This is right, the longswords of the Lannister swordsmen were not useful in the Braavosi style of fighting. Even if Syrio had picked one up and attempted to fight with it, he was facing a Kingsguard (although admittedly a not so great one) who was revered around the kingdom for combat skill. Even if he had picked up the sword, Trant would have killed him. Sorry Syrio brah
