Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. That must have been unbelievably horrible to wake up to that information.

Congratulations on your marriage! I was really moved by your story and your resilience of spirit. Have you always been a person who was able to handle the hard stuff in life? In what ways has your abrupt physical disability changed who you are as a person?

Your piece on Mitt Romney may have literally shaped the election, as you exposed a far more alarming side to the "businessman" than we, the voters, had seen.

At what point did you know that there was so much more than what we were seeing? Did that story start with a gut instinct, a tip, or something else? Did you experience any real fallout -- personal or professional -- from the piece?

Thanks for the answer, and I wish you all the best in life. You are truly an extraordinary person.

Though I don't know how the demands of travel affect you physically, I really think that you should be talking to people, whether adults or children, who suddenly find themselves disabled. While I think you are inspirational for everyone, you have a very special perspective I could really see helping others through what must be an unthinkably difficult journey.

Have you considered starting a non-profit? Or there must be established ones that would be thrilled to have you.

Edited to add: And if you haven't written a memoir, or if you aren't in the process of it, you should be.

When I started down the whole "what to do with a finished path" novel, Absolute Write was filled with helpful information, particularly about agents, but there is (or was) a real sense of derision for self-publishing.

Meanwhile, the publishers destroyed their mid-lists, and there's very little room for anyone who doesn't write something that sounds like something else. Or isn't already famous (or infamous, as the case may be) and putting their name on a "novel." Like Snooki.
