I came here to ask this, too. Fantastic book. Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. Overall message: there are only two tribes in the world, assholes and not-assholes. Secondary message: All unhappy reservation native-americans are alike--they're alcoholics. It's a YA (young adult). I wanted to ask, also, how do you feel about Alexie's rant about The Rez (a book about a reservation written by a white guy)? Big deal a few years back in the writing community. His basic point was that only Native Americans can write honestly about Native Americans.
