because that's what ARPA was funding the year I started grad school.
As good of a reason as any.
One more question, though not directly related to your work. It seems to me that there has been little interest in power distribution for new students, with most students focusing on embedded/software/electronics. Do you think this is going to cause problems for in the future? Such as a huge need for engineers experienced in that field, but not many to fill the need?

I'm sorry. That's all I can really say. I don't really have a question, but I can relate.
My sister died from Melanoma exactly 3 moths ago today. I miss her so much, but at the time I was kind of relieved. I was glad that she would no longer be in pain.
To want her here with us, in such pain, seemed very selfish to me. That thought made it easier to let her go. From what I gather in your other replies, I'm glad that your mother sees this as well, that it's better to move on than to suffer.
While that thought may help your mother some, it's still going to be the hardest thing she's ever gone through. I hope everything goes well for you and your family.

I don't know his face well enough to have realized it was him.

What are your thoughts on Google Fiber (as it's coming to Austin soon)? And what, exactly, sparked your interest in communications?
Also, I'd like to thank you for your speech at my graduation (from UT) last year, it was very inspiring. When I return for grad school I hope to have a chance to work with you.
