Honestly it sometimes does take an hour. We only charge half an hour labour but I tell customers an hour. We still run old-school with a tower operator handing out jobs personally to techs rather than using software to do that job. So by the time the advisor writes it up, hands it into the tower operator, the tower operator gets back from taking a shit, a mechanic comes up for a job, complains he doesn't like the job he was given, whines enough that he gets handed the waiter key fob work order instead, brings the vehicle in, bitches because the parts department doesn't have a key fob pulled ready to hand out since the service advisor didn't check inventory with parts first, the parts department goes to pick a fob off the shelf only to find the bin is empty when we show one in inventory, tries to see if we have one tagged for a customer on the special order shelf, finds the one that is in inventory sitting on the manager's desk because the advisor did actually check inventory and the manager grabbed it to have ready when the work order comes up, gives it to the mechanic, they program it in five minutes and park the car...... then the work order sits on the tower operator's desk to be invoiced. Finally it goes out to the service coordinator to cash out the customer, but nobody told her it's a waiter so she calls the home phone number on the work order and nobody answers, so she leaves a message and tucks the work order into her drawer. An hour after that the customer finally comes up and asks and she says "oh I have your paperwork right here, that'll be $349.00"

So yeah it can take a while.
