You should consider self publishing and sell on Amazon. Make a appearance on Oprah. You have a story. You have a fan base. You do not need a publisher. Start up a Kickstarter fund if you need cash to fund the project.

I went to school with kids that lived at the beach in a camper all through high school. Might be an option to put more money in your pocket while you save for a place to rent. Would have to be cheaper than a weekly motel. Although Denver is pretty cold. Maybe time to start fresh and move to the West coast.
