I have an 11 year old brother with Downs Syndrome. Is is also very intelligent and super tech savvy. He loves to bowl and watch movies and sing (his favorite song is "Remind Me," by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. He has two guitars and plays them all the time (though not very well.. Haha!)

Right now, he is struggling with listening and following directions. I suppose that's the teenager in him. I worry that he isolates himself a lot of the time - he spends a lot of time in his room alone, and hates when we come in to try and spend time with him.

What do you think I can do, as his older sister (I'm 28), to encourage him to interact socially with the family? Is there any piece of advice you could give me to understand where his desire to be alone - all the time - comes from? What do you think I can do to be a sister he loves and likes to spend time with?
