The footnotes were my favorite part when i read the novel the first time and had no knowledge of Trujillo or DR history

Hi, I don't have a question for you this time, but I met you when you spoke at Syracuse University in the spring. I consider you to be one of the reasons I saw my writing go from voiceless and amateur in the 7th-10th grade to a bit more complex and a thousand times better 11th grade on.

I can see that. I'm an aspiring writer and sometimes I write characters who cannot see someone as well as I see and can write them.

There are some critiques that you haven't capture female characters as well as your male characters (Although I think you did a great job with Lola and Beli in Oscar Wao) Why do you think that is?

I think the quietness was there because she was holding on to the idea that the guy she loved really love her and she wouldn't fall into the poverty stricken immigrant much longer
