I am a Vermont resident who has opposed H.112 for the lack of scientific evidence that GMOs present a danger to human health. In my view, a label on GMO foods shouldn't be any more mandatory than a label on vegan or kosher foods.

While there is a lot of consumer interest in GMO labels, do you think the enormous cost of the lawsuits will justify it? How does the crafting of the law protect our little state from claims that it will affect commerce?

Yes, exactly. A GMO label doesn't even provide any useful information. It just tells people "Science? In my food? Yuck!".

Ah yes, Vermont's legislature is mired in bad science and the precautionary principle...

That didn't answer my question about how the bill is crafted in a way that will inoculate us from lawsuits. I would be indifferent about labeling if I didn't see it as a source of costly hysteria!

Is ethical veganism compelling to you? It's great that you're such a good role model for people interested in plant-based diets. A lot of people go vegan for their health and stay vegan for the animals. Is this the case for you? Would you ever consider consuming animal products?
