Alright - so this is going to sound a little weird and possibly a touch obsessive but here goes.

About ten years ago I had, completely by chance, a small handful of grapes that were possibly the best tasting grapes I have ever had. Actually - that's not fair. I like most of the types of grapes I have tried - but this one was the most like what I would call the stereotypical grape flavour - the flavour of grape popsicles and grape soda and grape flavoured candy. They were from someone's own vines and I regretfully neglected to ask what type they were. But they were really, really good.

Now, ten years later, I would like to find these grapes. I've tried several common types that show up in the local grocery stores - including the concord grape - but no such luck. Outside of that I don't even know where to start.

Which is where this long shot comes in. Do you happen to know where I should start looking for these grapes? Do you have any suggestions as to what might be some of the possible varieties it could've been. They were vaguely globular and had very dark skins. I was living in Southern Ontario, Canada at the time if that helps.

It's also worth noting that in the intervening years I've moved to a place where grapes just don't grow (not much fruit does, to be honest). It's entirely possible that the answer is the concord grape (or some other common grape) that has just been ruined by shipping and handling.
