also, was the food worse in the box than what you were served in the normal jail?

yes, that would be terrible to be under florescent lighting 24 hours a day.

but overall, it makes sense that the first and last weeks in solitary were the hardest. at first you have to adjust to no human contact and learn to entertain yourself, then the last week you know you're getting close to release.
