With the instant gratification we see in our world today, the generation gap only seems to get bigger and bigger. That being said, what would you say that you learned the most from your time overseas and in the armed forces that the newer generations today might just not be exposed to?

Interesting perspective. It's often overlooked that our military is completely voluntary in comparison to the our past wars.

Allow me to play devil's advocate here, though. Since our military is completely voluntary, wouldn't a sound argument for keeping the troops overseas be the "they signed up for it" approach?
