What is "perfect practice"? More broadly, what are the key strategies and tactics to getting people who don't want to be there to turn their attitudes around? How much do you try to teach him life lessons as an adult versus just being his friend?

Kudos for trying. I hope you pick it up again. I'm a big proponent of math tutoring for at-risk youth. Schoolwork is a useful distraction from their home lives, and it provides lessons in persistence, hard work, and the satisfaction that can only come from overcoming a challenge. The ability to do things that are hard for you is one of life's most valuable skills. Math is the perfect subject for teaching it.

I have a lot of respect for you as a person, but I disagree that free college for everyone is a good idea. What do you say to people like me?
