Hi Mary! Thanks for doing this. I've worked on LGBT rights my entire life and am currently in law school, so to say you are one of my inspirations would be an understatement. My question for you is how you handle straight people who think that same-sex marriage will somehow harm them in some way. I've tried reasoning with these people but I seem to always fail--as if they're beyond reasoning with. Do you just not bother, or is there some brilliant way of expressing this that I haven't yet discovered?

How did your mom handle the whole ordeal? Did she believe the stories initially? How does she feel toward him now?
