How do you feel about the portrayal of world war two (all of it, not just the battles) in the various storytelling media (books, film, etc)?

I've been thinking a lot about world war two and the general state of Europe (and most of the rest of the world) in the second half of the 20th century and I feel very similar in belief. The war caused so much that stopping at the end of the actual battles is missing most of the story. Thanks for responding!
