Have you ever tried to solve a shitty non-speed cube and found that you can’t remember the algorithms unless you can do them fast?

I couldn’t tell you how the hell to do any of the double spin PLL algs, and I can’t do them on a slow cube, but with my Zanchin my hands just know the moves.

Would you say there are algs that your hands know but your brain doesn’t?

I discovered this phenomenon just recently.

I had taught myself CFOP a few years ago and bought a couple nice speedcubes, never got much faster than ~15s (couldn’t be bothered to learn all the OLLs so I did 2-look) and eventually stopped carrying the thing around all the time..

Went to a house party and there was a shitty old Rubik’s brand cube on a shelf and I thought “hey I can solve that” and proceeded to embarrass myself because I realized I couldn’t “remember” any of the algorithms, even though if I pick up a speed cube I can just solve it without thinking
