Hey, Jeff. I know the AMA is over, but I just wanted to get in touch with you maybe, and all the other Alzheimer's grandkids out there. My grandmother passed away with Alzheimer's two months ago (Diagnosed six years ago when I was 15).

It can be so hard watching someone who has been a constant in your life start to change, in unpredictable ways. I know I felt really helpless, confused, and afraid, though I can't say of what. I'm not gonna tell you that this road isn't hard.

But I do want to tell you that being there for your grandfather is one of the most rewarding things you can do. :) I am thankful for every single moment that I had with my grandmother, even the frustrating ones. Y'all can make it!

If anybody needs to talk, shoot me a message. :)

Articulation is hard enough for me on piano; pretty sure I should NEVER try harpsichord!

That's really sad. It makes me angry that someone would do that under the pretenses of open-mindedness.

I had heard that statistic before, but thank you for confirming it. I don't want to be the uninformed person waving a poorly spelled sign that says someone else is evil. My biggest hope in this area would be for the opposing sides to quit throwing rocks and find a better solution.

I expected this would come up next. I have been blessed never to be in that situation, so I can't claim to know how that feels. I have not yet made a solid opinion about abortion in the case of rape. On one hand, that would (in my opinion) be killing someone. But on the other, how can I support forcing a woman who has already been through the trauma of rape to also go through an entire pregnancy? And when the baby is born, what will happen to them? And I don't know how we would prove rape either.

This is why I don't consider myself an active opposer of abortion. (I would say I am a moral, ethical, or philosophical opposer, but not the kind of person who would picket, etc.) I know that I don't believe that it's right, but I think that outlawing it completely today would cause a ton of problems. As I said before, I think that both sides need to come together to try to find a better solution.
