How I feel being from the South at times like this

Edit: emphasis on times like this, proud of where I'm from, I just wish shit like this would stop.

US Marine here, tell your grandfather he's a goddamn badass and the kind of man that Marines today look up to.

Exactly brother. The greatest disappointment and embarrassment came when my home state (North Carolina) actually made gay marriage illegal, such an unnecessary step for a state that is usually progressive by the bible belt standards. It was the only time I actually felt shame for my home state.

Keep in mind experience sometimes isn't all that important when the job can be taught and a work ethic is more important. Employers value the work ethic that they know someone from the military has, it's not about their service, it's about the result of their service.

I am a type 1 and 2 608 certified technician. Problem is I do HVAC for the Marine Corps and as far I know my knowledge will not carry over very well into the civilian world. When I get out, how easy would it be for me to get a job, and what salary could I expect from just having a 608 type 1 and 2 and not much applicable experience.
