as a totally legal canadian immigrant, kudos and the best of luck to you and your brother, and ignore the people telling you that it's somehow unfair that you and your brother got the chance to take a fun ride through the desert, endure abuse and discrimination for years, work your goddamn asses off to keep each other alive and contribute to society in the hopes that someday you'll be able to legally turn your passions into value-adding careers. i recently got hired for my dream job and let me tell you - the eventual payoff (it will happen!) is well worth all the pain and suffering. stay the course and keep hustling.

my family was lucky enough to have our canadian visas approved right before the shit hit the fan, and my understanding of how incredibly lucky we were with our immigration (and we still went through hell to adjust to our new country) makes it impossible for me to feel anything but sympathy for illegal immigrants who only want to make a better life for themselves and their families.
