Americans are used to being embarrassed by their government. We're desensitized to it.

I think certain people (myself included) have a hard time being at peace with themselves no matter their circumstances. I've been in a wheelchair for 6 years, and I'm mostly at peace with that aspect of myself, except my role in any possible sexuality.

I frequently hate myself because I feel like I'm not good enough at my job, not a good enough friend, etc. These things are harder for me to deal with than my wheelchair. Unfortunately, I think no matter how "successful" I end up in life, I'll find a way to hate myself for something.
