I am one of those first Deaf people who got two cochlear implants. One (one channel model) at 5 years old in 1986 and other one (22 channels model) at 10 years old. I quit wearing them when I got finished in high school at age of 17. That means I have not wore my cochlear implants since then. Right now, I am 34 and I am perfectly fine as a Deaf person.
