Yes, this. It's a shame that because of a situation out of your control, you were going to lose your job no matter what you did. I'm glad you lost your job doing the right thing though, instead of losing it for staying at your post. It says a lot about your character. Even if the company can't appreciate that, even if it is just insurance wise, know that the rest of us do.
