Just found this article & it's pretty fascinating. I didn't know Mimi Rogers got Cruise into Scientology in the 80s (his first 'clearing session' was like 1989), Miscavige encouraged Cruise to divorce Rogers (by cheating on her with his blooming obsession to Nicole Kidman), Miscagive was Cruise's Best Man in 1990 when Kidman & Cruise married (their wedding funded by the Church of Scientology!), then Kidman & Cruise spent 2-3 months getting 'leveled-up' & Kidman got to 'Operating Thetan Level II (OT II).'

Miscavige was obsessed with Cruise, but Cruise was obsessed with Kidman. Kidman learned about the "psychologists suck" stuff & as her father was a psychologist, she was miffed. She veered away from Scientology & Cruise pretty much went with her on that for a lil bit starting in 92. They did a lot of great movies while distant from the church - To Die For, Jerry Maguire, Mission: Impossible, & Eyes Wide Shut.

Miscavige was mad. He wanted his Cruise back.

1998 knocked on the door: it's Cruise going for a clearing session, and Miscavige ordering the auditor: "Nicole was the problem and you want to reinforce that with Tom as subtly as you can without making it sound like you are trying to break them up." (and yeah I really need a Bill Wurtz 'history of Tom Cruise' video like stat, lol)

In 2001, Cruise calls Scientology up talking about how his life is awful, he needs more clearing sessions, and a divorce from Kidman. He asked Scientology to start tapping her phones & they say 'ofc Tom we love you.'

The actress was already distraught about the prospect of a divorce; now she was dealing with the paranoia that comes with having your conversations monitored. Kidman paid thousands of dollars to have surveillance experts check her home for listening devices. But the private investigators avoided detection. "There was no bug in the house," says a former Kidman staffer. "The lines were being tapped at the main phone company. We found that out later."

Once the divorce was finalized, Scientology went after Cruise & Kidman's kids - turning them against her by indoctrinating them into Scientology.

TV star and former Scientologist Leah Remini recalls sharing a ride with Connor and Bella to the airport after the 2006 wedding of Cruise and Katie Holmes. When The King of Queens actress asked the siblings, "How's your mom? Do you see her a lot?", Bella shot back, "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a fucking SP."
