Very important question for your experts: Is a hot dog a sandwich?

I want to say "so get off at their stop," but that could easily get misconstrued as stalkerish and get weird real fast. Maybe try carrying business cards or calling cards, and try offering them one as you leave?

As a lady subway rider, the very best, most appreciated interaction I ever had was a guy who had been sitting across from me for most of the 6 train. He wasn't staring or trying to get my attention, he only smiled once when I looked up at him, and I smiled a little, and then we went back to our books. As he got off the train, he stopped in front of me and said, "Excuse me, but you have the most amazing eyes I have ever seen. Have a good day." And then just walked off. He wasn't hitting me up for a number, just putting it out there, and it made me blush several shades. I don't know if it counts as a win for him, because he didn't leave with a number, but definitely the most considerate, no-pressure, encounter I've had with a guy hitting on me in NYC.

One time I watched a similar thing down with this poor guy who was shaking and sweating he was so nervous. He told the girl he was talking to that it had been his new year's resolution to try and talk to the pretty girls he saw on the trains but had never said hi to before. She ended up being married though, whomp whomp.

You're not even gonna throw some cheese or a crouton on it? That's just a sad bowl of broken dreams.
