I think the point is the kind of scientific rigor and truth that you are demanding isn't possible given a lay audience. Gladwell is trying spark curiosity and start a dialogue, not to give the definitive stance on any one particular issue.

Your first point is fairly suspect... given our current society, the risk of a violent revolution from the poor in the USA is extremely remote.

It's impossible completely mitigate one's own bias when communicating anything. It's up to the reader to recognize and evaluate such things.
