What is your job like on a day to day basis? What are your short-term and slightly less short-term goals at the moment?

I don't know. Friction makes more sense in this context if s/he's asking about the clash between the religious and scientific communities. That seems to have more to do with one's impression of "human society" than a book written centuries ago.
