I'd like to ask a more taboo question if that's alright - how do you derive your income? Royalties from reruns, speaking commissions, ad revenue, etc.? I'm so fascinated by the work you do, and I've always wondered how it is financially sustainable.

Hi Meagan, thanks for coordinating this. Some questions for your students:

  • How did you find out about these programs and how did you get started?

  • What's something you've learned from the foreign students you've been in contact with? What's something you think is important to teach them about yourselves, your culture, etc.?

  • What are your ideas on what you'll do after the program ends?

  • What's something you want to learn that the program doesn't currently teach?

What types of discussions need to happen before/ during/ after the design and build stages for this type of equipment (e.g., ethics, logistics of attaching, maintenance, etc.)?

As you consider designing cameras for new species of animals, how much of existing designs are you able to start with? Do you take the same basic camera design for birds, for example, and alter the mount based on the specific bird? Or do you need to start at a more basic level each time?
