Hello! I was born with Biliary Atresia, my liver did not have ducts. Because if this my liver built up bile- and I became very unhealthy. At 9 months old I had a liver transplant from my adoptive mom in 2001. She's still alive and with me today, we both are healthy after the surgery. I really wish you luck with finding a donor, living or deceased. I attend my country's national transplant games every two years. There you get to interact with recipients, living donors and donor families. They're all so grateful and happy. So I guess I'm trying to say, if you meet your donor or donor family, you'll form an unbreakable bond with them. If you have any questions just message or reply here :) good luck again <3

Edit: I should do an AMA about the transplant games and the transplant procedure. I don't remember anything about the transplant since I was young- but my mom fills me in on stuff. Fun fact: my anniversary was Tuesday. And on Sunday Thomas Starzl, the person who did the first liver transplant, successful and unsuccessful, passed away.

The first heart transplant was in fact in South Africa.

Who's your main? I play zenyatta and mercy a lot! I'd love to play with you even though I'm in the US :o)- I suffer from depression and a few other mental illnesses myself, but not related to anything like this. You're definitely in my thoughts, dude.

Thanks! I didn't actually get to meet Dr. Starzl, though I sincerely wish I could've. And yes everything is going great with me! My surgeon and doctors at the transplant hospital in my state want me to start getting an annual biopsy to monitor the scarring and tissue on my liver. So I have one scheduled for next July. I hope everything is great for you too. When was your transplant? Mine was 16 years ago, March 7th. How did I find out about what? The transplant games? My mother found out about them when I was 8. I've been doing cycling and badminton in them since I started going in 2008. The events there are fairly chaotic since they get new volunteers who aren't very well trained in the new city they pick every year but it's still a fantastic event.
