I am a systems admin at a university and often am involved in conversations around the deployment of new technologies. In each of these conversations, when the topic of cost comes up, both vendors and universities are quick to pass the cost on to students. It's almost a foregone conclusion.

What do you think is the best way to combat this practice while still providing quality technology to students as part of a quality education?
