Juneau resident here. I ask you to please mention only the rainy days you experienced in Southeast Alaska. The beauty of the fjordlands is best experienced with rainclouds hugging the fjord walls.

Here is a photo of the channel the cruise ships sail to dock in Juneau. Note that this was taken in winter, the only season we have sunny days, OP would have sailed down in summer.

Google doesn't collect data for the NSA. The NSA tries/uses the data Google collects during its normal operations. Maybe they can do better fighting it, I think they are doing all they can to. But you can't blame them for following court orders they've failed to defeat in legal proceedings.

I think that this will happen retroactively has future generations of humans start to study the history of AI development. Similar to how some teach human history with ages. Stone Age, Bronze Age, Space Age, etc.

Some might say that milestones already exist in the form of things like the Turing Test. But most of these general goals will likely be set by individuals or teams working on creating AI's.
