I don't get how people can call a professor or teacher or whatever authority on a first name basis is even acceptable at all. All persons are Mr/Mrs/Ms to me unless they've given explicit permission to call them otherwise. A professor is always referred to as "Professor", even if bump into them and know them tangentially through someone else on a campus.
