Hello Mr. Gordon-Levitt!

Thank you for taking time to do this, as a gigantic fanboy of yours, it's very exciting to see you on Reddit again! For my question, did any of your past film experiences or directors you have worked with influence your directorial style in Don Jon? And do you have any prospects to direct again?

Thank you, and have a great day!

Hey Doomtree!

I’m super excited to see you guys doing a reddit AMA. I have some questions for the individual members of the group:

Dessa: I’ve noticed a reoccurring theme throughout your songs where you take two common sayings and flip around one word in them. (“Flight of the salesman, death of the bumblebee” in Low Light, Low Life and “Kiss the bottle, spin the girl” in Sadie Hawkins, for example) Is there any meaning behind these plays on phrases?

Cecil: Any updates on Porcelain Revolver? I also noticed that you’re not represented on a good amount of All Hands. Is there a reason you took a bit of a backseat approach on this album?

Mike: Did you notice many differences transitioning from the L.A. rap scene to the underground Minnesota scene?

Lazerbeak: How was playing Letterman with Lizzo? And did you get to meet Robert Downey Jr.?

Paper Tiger: How did you decide what songs to flip for the Standards Mixtape?

P.O.S: Any updates on the Four Fists LP? (As a side note, thank you for acknowledging me and my home-made duct-tape shirt at Friday’s blowout this year. Duct Tape is one of my favorite songs of yours, and I was super excited that you were able to see my shirt!)

Sims: How did you go about getting those No Kings shoelaces? My friends and I noticed them at blowout awhile back and thought they were super cool!

General question to the band: I know you released the “Best Of False Hopes” album last year with the book, but is there any hope that we’d see re-releases of some of the really old false hopes (like Falsehopes, Mega!, Hung Over Seas, etc.)?

Thanks again for doing this, and thanks for All Hands! I’ve been listening to it all week…it’s fantastic!

Hello Mr. Jonze! Thank you for coming here to do this AMA. I’ve been a huge fan of yours, and I feel that all your movies are beyond brilliant (especially Her, I felt a real connection to Theodore). If you don’t mind, I have a few questions for you, please feel free to answer whichever you’d like, or none at all if you do not feel like it.

-I read that Chris Cooper did multiple takes for each scene in Adaptation, doing the scene with a different emotion each time. How did you pick which take to choose?

-I also read that you had Nicolas Cage (praise be unto him) ignore his actor’s instinct for this movie. How did you advise him differently?

-Has it been different doing your last few movies without Charlie Kaufman? I also really hope that you two will continue to collaborate in the future, he’s one of my absolute screenwriters, and you’re on of my favorite directors. It’s too perfect.

-I’ve also noticed that you seem to like to use very under-rated actors/actresses in your films (John Cusak, Nic Cage, Catherine Keener, Joaquin Phoenix, etc.). Is this deliberate, or am I just grasping at straws?

-How did you learn to write screenplays? I am an aspiring writer, but I don’t think they have any classes at my university on screenplay writing. Any tips?

-Are you thinking of doing any more short films? I’m Here is one of my favorite shorts.

-Lastly, what was it like to work with Weezer and the Beastie Boys for the music videos you directed (I love the Buddy Holly video, and the video for Sabotage is an absolute classic)

Thanks you again, and I hope you have a great rest of your day!

How was working on Watchmen? It seems like that would have been a pretty fun movie to be involved in.

Do you remember any videos fro your time hosting AFV that you consider favorites? Do you still keep up with the show? If so, what are your thoughts on how it's been?
