I'm clearly not Ice-T but are you daft? The genre hasn't changed whatsoever, political messages as well as party music has existed since the beginning of hip-hop, it actually started with the party stuff.

If you genuinely think there's more pop-rap now, you're either under 21 or a very new listener to rap. You obviously aren't looking hard enough.
