A law affecting one identity group more than another isn't enough of a reason not to implement it though ... if it's a good law the fact that people with one colour skin are impacted more than a group with a different colour shouldn't make a difference.

Ok just humour me for a sec. Let's say a law banning guns in the U.SofA disproportionally affects Southerners (I don't know if this is true or not but you know). Is this ALONE enough of a reason to class it as a bad law?
You could probably make the argument that voter I.D. unfairly impacts poor people if that was actually the case - but black =/= poor, and pretending like this law is inherently racist because black people happen to be poorer on average, right now, just smells like good old virtue signalling to me.

Not deliberate virtue signalling, mind. I just mean I think it's wrong and one of the attractions of this way of thinking is the kind-hearted nature of it all.
