I'm from Qc. and here if it's just a normal one-off attempt with no physical harm they give you an anti-psychotic and write a referral for a psychiatrist and a therapist. If you're just depressed you get an SSRI and a benzo. If there's severe physical harm you are more likely to be in the ICU though.

Do you ever admit patients for mood disorders? How severe does it have to be for a patient to require hospitalization?
