You guys have used a lot of actors that played the fathers from early 90s sitcoms (Patrick Duffy, Alan Thicke, Reginald Veljohnson, Michael Gross). Did you specifically seek these guys out because of those previous roles?

It's a flawed show, but it has it's moments. Season 2 ended very well. Still, I don't ever find myself looking forward to watching each episode. It's just so fucking grim.
You look at the best dramas over the last several years, they all have some amazing comedy in them: BB, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Deadwood, The Wire

And that dark humor is so important. If I could identify the biggest difference between Breaking Bad and other dark dramas (say Walking Dead for example), it's the humor. It is so vital because it not only breaks the nearly unbearable tension, but it also humanizes the characters.
