Bit if we don't have accurate population data, it'll throw a lot of other things out of skew. How will we be able to appropriate to towns and cities if their population and income data is off? It'd just cause way too many problems if we made the census voluntary. Enough that even if it's gonna be used for bad in the next year it's not worth it to not do it. If we don't do it this year the next president or 2 will have some extra trouble.

Idk I'm not intimately experienced with the census. I just know it's one of the most important things we do and is necessary for the smooth functioning of the country.
